Weve refined how add-on data discounts appear when auto-charge is on

With this update, eSIMs with auto-charge enabled now show—and apply—add-on (top-up) data discounts more accurately. We've aligned the amount shown on screen with the amount actually charged, so you can add data with confidence even while you're traveling abroad.

What we changed

We reviewed the screen you use to add data (top up) from My Account. Previously, even on eSIMs that already had auto-charge enabled, the add-on data discount could sometimes display in a way that didn't match the actual setting. With this adjustment, eSIMs with auto-charge enabled now show the discount that matches their status—and that same discount is applied at checkout.

This is a change to how pricing is presented: we've brought the wording more in line with what actually happens so the display and the charge don't diverge. It does not reduce the amount of data you can actually use. It simply makes the "amount shown on screen" and the "amount applied at checkout" consistent.

Why we made this change

Adding data is something many people do while traveling. You're using maps, translation, or messaging, your balance runs low, and you want to top up quickly on the spot—situations like that come up often. That's exactly why it matters that the "amount shown on screen" matches the "amount you actually pay." If the display is off because of your settings, you can hesitate for a moment over whether to add data, and that gets in the way when you need it most. To make topping up something you can do with confidence, we aligned the display with what's applied. Pricing is an area we want to handle especially carefully, so we checked it down to the small details.

What's more convenient for you

  • On eSIMs with auto-charge enabled, the add-on data discount is shown clearly.
  • Checkout proceeds at the amount shown, so there's less of that "wait, is this right?" feeling when you add data.
  • When your balance runs low, it's easier to top up without second-guessing.
  • Even for a quick top-up on the go, you can move ahead calmly while checking the amount.

Good to know: when to top up vs. buy a new plan

When you run low on data while abroad, there are two main options. The easiest way to choose is to think about your remaining days and how much you expect to use from here.

  • Top up (add data): Add data straight to the eSIM you're already using. There's no need to set things up again, and you keep going without switching lines. This suits cases where you want a little more for a short period, or you only have a bit of your trip left.
  • Buy a new plan: Choose a separate plan from scratch. This suits longer remaining stays, or when you want to switch to a larger allowance or an unlimited-type plan.

If it's "just a little short," top up; if you'll be using data "for a good while yet," buy a new plan—deciding by your remaining days keeps the choice steady. Topping up early, when your balance dips to around 20–30% before you run out, helps keep your connection from dropping. Note that if you switch to an unlimited-type plan, the fair-use policy and how speeds are handled after a certain amount of usage can vary by plan and by country or region, so please check each plan's terms before you buy.

Good to know: how much should you add? A way to estimate your allowance

If you're unsure how much to add, it helps to work backward from your remaining days and your daily usage. Light use centered on maps and messaging and heavier use that includes video or video calls require very different amounts. The more you use per day, the more it can pay off to add a bit of a buffer in one go rather than topping up small amounts repeatedly—it cuts down on the number of times you go through checkout. Conversely, if you only have a few days left, there's no need to add more than you can use. Actual prices and allowances can change, so treat these as rough guides and confirm the latest figures on the purchase screen (as of June 2026). Note that Bloomy eSIMs are data-only by default: they do not include a phone number, SMS, or voice calls. If you need a phone number, SMS, or voice calling, it's worth lining up another option as well. App-based calling such as WhatsApp may be available wherever you have a working data connection.

You can check your add-on data settings and current status in My Account. For how pricing works, see our guide to top-up pricing as well (prices can change, so please confirm the latest on screen).

What's next

We'll keep reviewing how pricing is displayed so it stays easy to understand, including for first-time users. Beyond making the displayed amount and the actual charge consistent, we plan to gradually improve the flow itself—making it clearer where to look for your remaining balance and your next step.
