How to fix connection issues
If you can't connect abroad, check the following in order.
Do not delete your eSIM
Even if you can't connect, deleting the eSIM may make it impossible to reinstall. Before deleting, try the checks below in order.
What you can check here
- First checks
- Device settings
- Signal & network
- Restart & airplane mode
- If it still won't work
Check in this order
Check that you have arrived at your destination
Many overseas eSIMs connect to a local network only after you arrive in the target country/region. They may not work in Japan or outside the coverage area.
Check that Bloomy eSIM is turned on
In your device’s cellular settings, make sure the Bloomy eSIM line is enabled. Turn it on if it is off.
Check that Bloomy eSIM is selected for mobile data
On iPhone check “Mobile Data”, on Android check the “Data SIM / mobile data” setting and select Bloomy eSIM. It won’t work if your home SIM is still selected.
Turn on data roaming for the Bloomy eSIM line
You may need to enable data roaming on the Bloomy eSIM line. Make sure you are changing the Bloomy eSIM line, not your home line.
Toggle airplane mode
Turn airplane mode on for about 10–15 seconds, then off. This re-searches for networks and can restore the connection.
Restart your device
Restart the device once. Right after adding the eSIM or arriving, a restart often helps.
Set network selection to automatic
If network selection is set to manual, switch it to automatic. Only if automatic fails, manually select a supported local network (supported network names vary by plan).
Check the APN setting
Some plans require an APN. If your purchase email or setup details include an APN, enter it as instructed. If none is given, don’t guess — check the post-purchase guidance.
Try again where signal is stronger
Signal can be weak at airports, underground, deep inside buildings, or in mountains. Try again outdoors or near a window.
Wait a little and check again
Connecting to a local network can take a few minutes. Right after setup, wait a bit and try again.
