How to set up your eSIM

Set up in one tap after purchase — on supported devices the eSIM screen opens automatically (QR scan and manual entry also supported).

It's easier than it looks

Just tap through the numbered steps in order. There's no tiny card to swap like a physical SIM — you can set it up yourself, easily.

What you can check here

  • Before you start
  • Setup on iPhone
  • Setup on Android
  • After you arrive
  • Things to watch out for

Please read first

  • An eSIM is used on the device where you first install it. It often cannot be moved to another phone, so set it up on the phone you will actually use.
  • After installing, do not delete the eSIM until you are finished — a deleted eSIM may not be reusable.
  • Wi-Fi is required to install your eSIM.
  • Log in to My Page and open your setup link (or the QR code / setup details).
  • Installing before departure is recommended.
  • Data use starts after arrival, once you select Bloomy eSIM as your mobile data line.
  • Activation timing varies by plan — please also check the post-purchase guidance.

Check these first

  • Your device supports eSIM
  • Your device is SIM-unlocked
  • You are connected to Wi-Fi
  • You can open the setup link (or QR code) in My Page
  • Your OS is not too old
  • Destination, days and plan are correct

Setup on iPhone

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi

  2. Open the Settings app

  3. Open “Cellular / Mobile Data”

  4. Tap “Add eSIM” or “Add Cellular Plan”

  5. Tap the setup link from My Page (auto-opens on supported devices), or scan the QR code

  6. Follow the on-screen steps to add the eSIM

  7. Rename the line to something clear like “Bloomy eSIM”

  8. Check the roles of your home line and Bloomy eSIM

  9. Before departure, turn Bloomy eSIM off if needed

  10. After arrival, set Bloomy eSIM as the mobile data line

  11. Turn on “data roaming” (the setting that lets your phone receive signal abroad) for the Bloomy eSIM line if required

iPhone tips

  • Don't turn on data roaming for your home line
  • Check which line is selected for mobile data
  • “Allow Cellular Data Switching” may cause unintended line usage
  • Clear line names help avoid confusion abroad

Setup on Android

On Android, menu names vary by maker and version. Look for similar wording.

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi

  2. Open the Settings app

  3. Open “Network & internet” or “Connections”

  4. Open “SIM” or “Mobile network”

  5. Tap “Add eSIM” or “Download a SIM”

  6. Tap the setup link from My Page (auto-opens on supported devices), or scan the QR code

  7. Follow the on-screen steps to add the eSIM

  8. Rename the line to something clear like “Bloomy eSIM”

  9. After arrival, set Bloomy eSIM as the mobile data line

  10. Turn on “data roaming” (the setting that lets your phone receive signal abroad) if required

  11. If data still won't connect, add the APN manually (your APN is shown in the eSIM details on My Page)

Android tips

  • Menu names differ by maker / OS version
  • It may be under “Connections”, “Network”, or “SIM manager”
  • Make sure data runs on Bloomy eSIM, not your home SIM
  • Be careful which line you set roaming on
  • Even after installing via QR, Android may not apply the APN automatically — add it manually if so

If the QR code won't scan (manual setup)

  • Manual setup details (e.g. SM-DP+ address) may be shown in My Page.
  • You can enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.
  • Enter the details exactly, including case and symbols.
  • If you can't find the details, check My Page.

After you arrive

  • Bloomy eSIM is turned on
  • Bloomy eSIM is selected for mobile data
  • Data roaming is on for the Bloomy eSIM line
  • Your home SIM isn't using data by mistake
  • You are where there is signal
  • Restart the device if needed

Common mistakes

  • Thinking data starts automatically just after scanning the QR
  • Leaving the home SIM as the mobile data line
  • Leaving data roaming off
  • Not setting the required APN on Android
  • Trying to install without Wi-Fi
  • Deleting the eSIM and trying to reinstall
  • Using a non-supported or SIM-locked device

Important: don't delete your eSIM right away

Once deleted, an eSIM often cannot be reinstalled with the same QR code. If you can't connect, do not delete it — first check “How to fix connection issues”.

Set up but can't connect?

If you can't connect abroad, follow the connection checklist step by step.
