Easier to Retry Your Payment After a Declined Card

Even if your card payment is declined, you can now re-enter your card on the same screen and continue, without getting stuck pressing the button again and again. Retrying a payment should take less time and guesswork than before.

This article explains what changed and lists the points to check calmly if a payment isn't going through (as of November 2026).

What Changed in This Update

In short: a declined order is no longer reused. A new order is created instead.

When a card payment made through PayPal is declined by the card issuer, the previous order could remain marked as “approved” on the payment side. Before this change, we kept using that order as “payment pending,” which sometimes meant the button could be pressed repeatedly without moving forward.

Now, a declined order is not carried over. Once you re-enter your card details, the payment goes through as a new order.

  • We did not change how prices are calculated or how the eSIM is issued
  • No charge is made for a declined order
  • As before, you can also check out by paying with a PayPal account

Which plan fits this trip?

Why We Made This Change

We noticed that several customers repeated the same steps over and over during actual purchases. Getting stuck without a clear error message is a real source of anxiety for people buying an eSIM for the first time.

Since late October, we have also had a safeguard against accidentally buying the same plan twice. Combined with declined orders remaining on the payment side, this made retrying difficult in some situations. These are small details, but we want to reduce, one by one, the moments when you're unsure what to do next during checkout.

Note that this is an adjustment to how payment steps are handled. It does not change the amount of data you get or the content of your eSIM.

What This Means for You

Re-enter your card and try again right away

Even immediately after a card issuer declines a payment, retrying is smoother, whether you use a different card or re-enter the card number after double-checking it. You no longer need to wait on the same screen.

Buying for a friend or family member won't get stuck

If you try to buy the same plan again within a short time, you'll see a prompt: “You already purchased this plan a few minutes ago. Do you want to buy another one?” If you need a second eSIM for a friend or family member, choose to buy and the purchase continues. This helps prevent accidental duplicate purchases while still allowing intentional extra ones.

No charge for orders that didn't complete

No charge is made for an order whose payment wasn't completed. If you're unsure, check the confirmation email you received at purchase or your My Account page to see whether an eSIM was issued for that order.

Checklist If Your Payment Isn't Going Through

Here is an order of checks you can work through calmly at checkout. These are the most commonly checked items.

What to checkWhat to look for
Card detailsCard number, expiration date, security code, and name are entered correctly
Card statusThe amount is within your credit limit, and international or online transactions are not restricted (check with your card issuer)
Verification screenIf your card issuer's verification screen appears, make sure you didn't close it midway
Other payment methodsIf the checkout page offers another option, such as paying with a PayPal account, try it
Charge and issuanceCheck your order email or My Account page to see whether an eSIM was issued for the order

If your card issuer declines a payment, the reason may not be visible to Bloomy. In that case, contacting your card issuer is the quickest way to find out. Common payment questions are answered in our FAQ, and problems such as an eSIM not connecting after purchase are covered in our Troubleshooting guide.

What We Focused On

  • Built for retries: Even when something fails, we designed screens that show you the next step
  • Keeping necessary confirmations: The check that prevents duplicate purchases remains, but it won't stop you when you're buying for a friend or family member
  • Keeping changes small: Prices and eSIM issuance work as before; we only revised the retry flow

Planned Improvements

We're looking at ways to make the next steps clearer on screen when a payment is declined. We don't have a timeline yet, and we'll keep refining this.
