With this update, you can now switch between data plans (pay-for-what-you-use plans) and unlimited plans, so you can compare just the type that fits you without the clutter. If you've ever been unsure whether to choose by data amount or go unlimited, this makes that first step a lot less confusing.
What's New in This Update
Until now, our comparison page sometimes mixed data plans and unlimited plans together in the same list, and travelers told us it was hard to tell which type was actually right for them. We've reworked how plans are displayed so you can switch plan types with a single tap and show only the type you want to look at right now.
Specifically, you can now use a toggle to separate data plans (for example, a set plan like "3GB / 7 days" with a fixed amount of data and a fixed number of days) from unlimited plans (the type where you use data without watching your remaining balance for the duration of the plan). When you switch, only the selected type appears in the list, so unlimited plans are less likely to get mixed in when you're looking for a data plan, and vice versa.
Why We Made This Change
For anyone using an eSIM for the first time, the very first fork in the road is "choose by data amount, or go unlimited?" When that isn't sorted out, you're left staring at a wall of prices and day counts, and it's easy to end up thinking "I still can't tell which one is best."
At Bloomy, we care about more than just listing affordable plans — we want first-time users to be able to choose with confidence. So we set things up so you first decide clearly which type you want to see, and then compare prices and durations from there. When the order of decisions is clear, the comparison itself becomes much easier.
How This Helps You
If you're taking a short trip and just want something light for the data you'll actually use, you can show only data plans and compare data amounts and durations side by side. On the other hand, if you use a lot of data for maps, social apps, and browsing and would rather not worry about your remaining balance, you can switch to unlimited plans only and take your time choosing.
For longer stays — like studying abroad or an extended trip — you can still split the view by type first, weighing whether a data plan is likely to be enough or whether an unlimited plan gives you more peace of mind, and decide based on your travel style. Because only what you want to see is shown, there's less scrolling on a small phone screen, and comparing goes more smoothly.
Good to Know: How to Think About Data Plans vs. Unlimited Plans
Now that switching is easier, here are a few pointers to help you choose. A data plan comes with a set amount of data decided in advance. It suits people who use data mainly for maps and messaging and have a rough sense of how much they'll need, or who want to keep costs down on a short trip. An unlimited plan, on the other hand, suits people who'd rather not watch a data cap, or whose usage is hard to predict — think video, calling apps, and a lot of browsing.
One thing worth knowing: an unlimited plan does not necessarily mean "always the same speed no matter how much you use." Depending on the plan, there may be a fair use policy that gradually slows speeds after a certain amount of usage, and tethering (using your phone's connection on other devices) may be handled differently from plan to plan. Real-world speeds also depend on the local network, your device, the area, and the time of day, so when choosing an unlimited plan it's a good idea to check the duration, covered countries, and usage conditions before you buy.
If you're worried a data plan might not be enough, one option is to start with a smaller amount and adjust as needed. Also, keep in mind that the eSIMs Bloomy offers are generally data-only. If you'll need a phone number, SMS (text messaging), or voice calls, it's worth lining up another option alongside it. Calling apps like WhatsApp can often be used wherever you have a working data connection.
The Bloomy Touch
We kept the wording and layout of the toggle as simple as possible so that even first-time users can tap it intuitively. Rather than piling on technical jargon, we used clear, plain labels — "data plans" and "unlimited plans" — to keep that first step from being confusing. We aimed for a clean look and a no-hard-sell layout, while making it easy to reach the information you actually need.
What's Coming Next
We'll keep refining how plans are presented and how easy they are to filter, guided by the feedback we receive. We plan to make gradual improvements so it's easier to land on the plan that fits you best — by data amount, duration, covered country, and more.
