Here is the short version of what got better with this update: however you arrive at Bloomy eSIM, the price you see is the price you pay. Coming in from a comparison site or landing on the page straight from a search no longer changes the number. We also went through every plan and duration combination we list and checked that the price on the listing matches the amount that appears at checkout.
What we changed
In short: we unified how prices are displayed, then audited the whole catalog. Three things:
- We turned off pricing that varied by referral path. Wherever you came from, the same plan now displays and charges the same price.
- We reviewed every plan currently listed. For each combination of plan and number of days, we confirmed that the price shown in the listing matches what is actually billed at checkout.
- We've held back a small number of plans we couldn't fully verify. They'll go back up once we have complete details from the connectivity partners behind them.
Why we did this
Because price is the first thing you look at when you start planning a trip.
In the run-up to departure, you have limited time to answer a simple question: "for this country, with this much data, what does it cost?" If the amount depends on which page you happened to open, or shifts just before you pay, you're back to square one on a decision you thought you'd made. More than the number itself, we think being able to take the number at face value is what makes preparation lighter.
By the same logic, leaving plans up when we haven't verified the details ourselves isn't fair to the person doing the choosing. Holding them back until we can confirm them comes from the same place.
What this means for you
- The amount you see on the comparison page is the amount you can put straight into your travel budget.
- Because the price is identical from every entry point, there's no need to wonder whether some other page sells it cheaper.
- What you paid is visible in My Account, which makes expense claims and sorting out receipts after the trip easier.
When you're looking for a plan for your destination, the eSIM comparison page lets you filter by country, data amount, and number of days. The amount displayed is the amount you'll be charged.
Worth knowing: how to read eSIM pricing
Once you know how the pricing works, comparing plans across providers gets much easier. Four things determine what a travel eSIM costs.
1. Whether taxes and fees are included
Travel eSIMs sit in a fairly narrow price band, so how tax is handled can change the impression more than you'd expect. Bloomy eSIM's comparison page shows prices in USD, inclusive of any applicable taxes. When you compare providers, put both quotes on the same footing (tax included versus tax added at checkout) and the real difference becomes obvious.
2. Read data allowance and duration together
The same amount of data is a different plan depending on how many days you have to use it. Burning through an allowance in 7 days and spreading the same allowance across 30 days suit very different kinds of trips. Rather than lining up prices alone, compare data and days as a pair.
3. Country and regional coverage
Single-country plans and multi-country regional plans are priced differently. A country where you only pass through the airport on a layover often doesn't need to be covered at all, so choosing based on where you'll actually use data tends to cut out the waste.
4. What to do if you run out
If you run low on data, there are broadly two options: add data to the plan you're already using, or buy a separate new plan. If you still have plenty of days left, topping up usually makes sense; if the expiry date is close or your remaining stay is short, buying a new plan for just the days you need often ends up less wasteful. Which options are available depends on the plan and the country, so check the details on the plan page before you buy.
What we cared about here
This update didn't add a new feature. All we did was confirm that the numbers we were already showing stay the same all the way to the end. Even so, we think price is information people judge on "can I trust this?" before "is this cheap?" Checking the small print, line by line, so that no doubt creeps in at the moment of purchase. It's unglamorous work, but we suspect it matters most to people using an eSIM for the first time.
