Adding data just got better value: top-up and auto-charge discounts are now shown clearly

With this update, it's now easier to add a smaller, more affordable amount of data the moment you think "I might be running low" during your trip. Adding data from your account page (top-up) has always cost less than buying a brand-new plan, and auto-charge (data added automatically) has offered even better value—but that value wasn't visible on screen. We've now made it clear across our articles, plan pages, and account page. The details below reflect June 2026; discount conditions and plans may change, so please also check the latest information shown at the time of purchase.

What's in this update

There are three main changes:

  • On each plan page, the "Add data" section now states clearly that both top-up and auto-charge offer better value.
  • We've added guidance on how to think about adding data to the related help articles.
  • We fixed an issue in the Settings tab of your account page where some eSIMs weren't showing in the auto-charge list. Affected eSIMs now appear in the list correctly.

Why we made this change

When you're traveling, it's hard to estimate exactly how much data you'll need before you leave. Buy too much and you may not use it all; buy too little and you risk running short while you're away. The worry that "topping up later might be expensive" often makes the decision harder. In reality there's a more affordable way to add data—it just wasn't being communicated well. So we revised how this is displayed, helping you choose just what you need with confidence. Rather than creating a new discount, this update simply makes existing value visible.

What's more convenient for you: choosing between top-up and a new plan

Here we lay out the smart way to choose when you're running low on data, in light of this update. There are three main options, each suited to a different situation. Start with the table below for the overall picture.

MethodValueSetup again?Best for
Top-up (add manually)Costs less than a new planNot neededStaying in the same country and wanting to add data quickly on the spot
Auto-charge (add automatically)Even better value than adding manuallyNot neededLong stays where you don't want to watch your balance or risk an interruption
Buy a new eSIMStandard price each timeNeededMoving to another country, or changing the data amount or duration significantly

1. Top-up (add from your account page)

This adds data directly to the eSIM you're already using. It costs less than buying another plan, and a big advantage is that there's no need to swap eSIMs or set up again. It's ideal when you want to add a little data quickly while you're out and about.

2. Auto-charge (add automatically)

This setting adds data automatically when your balance runs low. It offers even better value than adding manually, and the advantage is that your connection is less likely to be interrupted. It's well suited to longer stays with a lot of video or maps, when you'd rather not keep checking your balance. You can switch it on or off from the Settings tab on your account page.

3. Buy a new eSIM

Buying a new plan makes sense when you're moving to another country or switching to a completely different data amount or duration. If your destination changes, it's reassuring to choose a plan that covers that country from the comparison page.

In short, if you're staying in the same country, buy a modest amount at first and top up if you need more—this tends to avoid waste and often works out to better value. On the other hand, for long stays where you'd rather not do anything manually, auto-charge is convenient.

What to know before you add data

Each method comes with a few things to keep in mind. Checking the points below will help you decide with confidence.

  • Discount rates and the amount of data you can add may change. Please check the latest conditions shown on your account page.
  • Top-up and auto-charge are both data only. They don't include a phone number, SMS, or voice calls, so if you need a number or SMS, please also consider another option alongside.
  • Connection speeds vary with the local network, area, and time-of-day congestion. Even with data remaining, how easily you connect can change from place to place. A fair-use policy may apply.
  • Because auto-charge adds data automatically, you can turn it off from your account page whenever you no longer need it.

The Bloomy touch

To help ease the worry that "running low will get expensive" right when it matters, we now show the value not only on your account page after purchase, but also on the plan pages before you buy. We've chosen words that make it easier to pick just what you need—without hype or pressure. We also prioritized wording that's clear and easy to understand for first-time readers.

What's planned next

We'll keep refining how clearly your remaining data and usage are shown. We're also exploring more intuitive ways to convey how much each method can save you. If you notice anything about usability, please let us know through our contact page.
