FAQ: eSIM for Japan
Will this eSIM work in Japan?
We offer plans that cover Japan. They work on eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked devices.
When should I set it up?
Install it over Wi-Fi before departure, then turn on mobile data after arriving in Japan.
Can I use a phone number or SMS?
Plans are data-only. Voice/SMS may not be supported, but internet apps like LINE and WhatsApp work fine.
What happens if I run out of data?
Depending on the plan, data stops or slows. You can buy a top-up or another plan if needed.
Can I use it as soon as I land in Japan?
If you install it before departure, just select Bloomy eSIM for mobile data after you land. Signal varies by location, so it helps to have airport Wi-Fi as a backup in case the connection is weak.
Which networks does it use in Japan?
The plans on this page connect to local networks in Japan (KDDI/au, NTT docomo, Rakuten Mobile, SoftBank). Supported networks differ by plan.
How many days should my plan cover?
Choose a plan that covers at least the length of your stay. When the validity period starts (at purchase or at activation) differs by plan, so check each plan's details before buying.
