You've paid for an eSIM, but the setup details are nowhere to be found — or the screen still says "Preparing" and refuses to change. When your flight is close, those few minutes feel like hours. Here's the short answer: check three things, in this order — open your order confirmation page, then search your email, then contact support if the details still aren't there. In most cases the first step is all you need. Below, we've laid out what to look at and what to do right after purchase, before you travel, and once you land. Even if this is your first eSIM, reading top to bottom will tell you what to do next.
- The order confirmation page is the first place to look
- Setup emails often land in spam
- "Preparing" means your profile is still being issued
- You can add the eSIM by entering the details manually
- Who to contact — and what to include — if nothing works
The short answer: check these three things, in order
Get the order right and most "it never arrived" cases are solved in a few minutes. Work through these in sequence.
- Open your order confirmation page (the order details page created when you bought). Your setup link and activation details are always available there, even if you can't find the email.
- Search your email. Include spam, promotions, and archived or "all mail" folders in the search.
- Contact support if the details still don't appear. Include your order number and the email address you used at checkout — that makes the lookup much faster.
"Just buy it again" is a last resort. You can easily end up paying twice, so please try the three steps above first. You can also review everything about your purchase from My Account.
What does "Preparing" actually mean?
"Preparing" means your order went through and the profile (the line details you'll actually use) is still being issued. It usually switches over within a few minutes. It does not mean your payment failed or your order disappeared.
That said, heavy demand or network conditions can slow things down. As a rough guide, if it's been stuck on "Preparing" for more than 30 minutes, don't keep waiting — get in touch. We'll check the status on our side and reissue it if needed. If you're about to travel, say so in your message and we'll prioritize it.
Where to look first, by symptom
Find the row closest to what you're seeing. Different causes call for different first moves.
| What you're seeing | Likely cause | What to do first |
|---|---|---|
| You got the purchase receipt, but no eSIM details | Profile still being issued, or the email went to another folder | Open your order confirmation page / search your email |
| The screen stays on "Preparing" | Waiting on the profile to be issued | Wait a few minutes. Contact us after 30 minutes |
| No emails at all | Typo in the email address, or filtering settings | Double-check the address you used and contact us |
| Tapping the setup link does nothing | Device or OS state, or your connection | Connect to Wi-Fi and tap again / try manual entry |
| Added fine, but no service after you land | Line switched off, or data roaming not enabled | Turn the line on / check your settings |

How to track down a missing setup email
Check spam and the promotions tab
This is by far the most common cause. Emails with strings like "eSIM" in the subject line often get filed automatically into spam or promotions. Look beyond your inbox — search spam, promotions, and all mail (archive) too.
Try different search terms
Short keywords work best: "Bloomy", "eSIM", "order". Searching by date around the time you bought is another good way to find it.
Verify the email address you used
One wrong character and the email simply never arrives anywhere. You can't fix that on your own, so contact us with your order number (or something else that identifies the purchase, such as the last four digits of the card you paid with). We'll resend it to the correct address.
Installing on your device: one tap on the setup link
With Bloomy, the standard flow is simple: tap the setup link you received and follow the on-screen prompts. There's nothing to scan. Once it's installed, you switch the line on after you arrive.
| Method | When to use it | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Tap the setup link | The standard method — this covers almost everyone | Open the link on the device you'll travel with |
| Manual entry | The link won't open, or you're viewing the details on another device | SM-DP+ address and activation code |
| QR code | A fallback when neither of the above works | The code shown on a second screen, plus the device that scans it |
If the link won't open, enter the details manually
Even when the setup link misbehaves, you can install the same profile by typing in the SM-DP+ address and the activation code. Both are shown on your order confirmation page. On your device, go to something like "Cellular" → "Add eSIM" → "Enter Details Manually" (the exact wording varies by device and OS version).
You need Wi-Fi or data to install
Installing the profile itself requires a connection. It's safest to do it before you leave — at home or on hotel Wi-Fi. Airport Wi-Fi at your destination can be flaky, and this is exactly where people get stuck.
Check that your device is compatible first
If your phone doesn't support eSIM, or it's carrier-locked, installation won't work. You can check before or after purchase on our compatible devices list.
Who these steps will help — and who should just contact us
Let's be straightforward about the difference.
These steps are for you if:
- You received the purchase confirmation and only the eSIM details are missing
- It's been less than 30 minutes since the status showed "Preparing"
- You have the setup link but installation stalled partway through
Skip the steps and contact us first if:
- It's been stuck on "Preparing" for more than 30 minutes
- You may have mistyped your email address at checkout
- You're close to departure or boarding and need this fixed now
- You've been charged, but there's no sign of the order at all
If any of those apply, reach us through the contact page with your order number, the email address you used, your destination, and your device model. Those four details make it dramatically faster to check and fix.
One more thing to confirm: these eSIMs are data-only
The eSIMs Bloomy offers are data-only. This is easy to misread, so here it is precisely.
- Not included: a phone number, voice calls to and from a phone number, and SMS
- Included: everything that runs over data — calls on WhatsApp, Messenger, FaceTime and similar apps work as usual, along with maps, translation, ride-hailing, social media and the rest
So it's not that you can't make calls. But if you need to receive SMS sent to your home-country number — for identity checks with your bank back home or your credit card company, for example — plan a backup: keep your home line active, or switch those accounts to an authenticator app or email verification before you go. It's worth sorting out whether you actually need a number and SMS while you're still at home.
Data plans are also subject to a fair usage policy, and real-world speeds depend on the local networks, your device, and where you are, so performance will vary from place to place.
If you land and nothing connects
1. Is the line switched on?
Installing the profile doesn't start service by itself. In your settings, under "Cellular" or "Mobile Data", select the Bloomy line and turn it on. If you've kept your home-country line active, also check that the line used for mobile data is set to Bloomy.
2. Data roaming
Because the eSIM connects through local partner networks, data roaming may need to be switched on for the Bloomy line. With it off, you'll show signal but still have no data.
3. Restart, and reselect the network
Right after arrival, toggling airplane mode or restarting the phone often fixes it on its own. If nothing changes, switch network selection from automatic to manual and pick a local network yourself.
Step-by-step fixes by symptom are collected on our troubleshooting page. You can reach us in English from wherever you are, including after you've arrived.

In summary
When your eSIM seems to have vanished after purchase: 1) open your order confirmation page, 2) search your email including spam, 3) contact us if nothing changes after 30 minutes. Remember that order and you'll be fine. Buying a second one should always be the last resort.
And when it doesn't go smoothly, there's no need to sort it out alone. Send us your order number and device model and we'll check the status from our side. The fewer things you have to worry about while getting ready to travel, the better.
