We've revised how the gift page looks and reads so that anyone who receives an eSIM gift can quickly understand what to do next. With these updates, recipients are less likely to get stuck on the next step, and it's easier to calmly finish setup before you travel. We've also reworded things so no one assumes a gift "just works" the moment it's received — the page now clearly conveys the flow of receive → add to your account → a quick setup.
What changed in this update
- Adjusted the layout so the card displays correctly in the center when opened on larger screens, such as a computer.
- Tidied up the spacing around the header and how the background appears, for a cleaner, easier read.
- Reworked the description shown when a gift is shared, so it no longer gives the impression that an eSIM "works automatically once received." The wording now makes clear that a quick setup is needed after receiving it.
This wasn't just about polishing the visuals — the priority was making sure "what to do next" comes across correctly. Even small wording differences can change how reassuring the experience feels for someone trying eSIM for the first time, so we reviewed the language carefully.
From receiving an eSIM gift to using it
An eSIM gift can be used through the following steps.
- Open the gift link you received and claim it.
- Log in to Bloomy, and the eSIM you received is added to your account.
- Tap the setup link once and follow the on-screen guidance to add the eSIM.
- When you arrive at your destination, turn that line on and start using it.
With Bloomy, setup moves forward with a single tap on the setup link you received. A reassuring approach is to finish just the "add" step before you leave, then turn the line on once you're there. The timing of activation can differ depending on the plan, so please also check the guidance provided when you receive the gift (as of June 2026).
A gift isn't something that "works automatically the moment it's received." After receiving it, you complete a quick setup in your account, and then it's ready to use. There's no rush — we'd recommend finishing setup before you travel.
About the eSIM you receive
The eSIMs Bloomy offers are, as a rule, data-only — they don't include a phone number, SMS, or voice calling. App-based calls that run over data, such as WhatsApp, Messenger, or FaceTime, work as usual. The only things you can't do are make and receive calls over a phone number (voice calls) and send or receive SMS. If you need a phone number or SMS, it's worth also considering another option or a plan that includes a number.
It's also reassuring to check in advance whether your device supports eSIM. Older devices and some models can't use eSIM, so taking a look at our compatible-device check before you send or receive a gift can save you from a scramble on the day.
What to consider when sending a gift (data amount, days, destination)
People about to send a gift often tell us, "I'm not sure how much data to choose." So the recipient isn't caught short on the trip, we'd suggest roughly picturing their destination, length of stay, and how they'll use it before you buy. As a rough guide: for light use centered on maps and messaging, plan for around 0.3–0.5 GB per day; if it also includes sharing photos and looking things up, around 0.5–1 GB per day; and for frequent video or video calls, expect more than that. When you're unsure, choosing a little extra helps reduce the worry of running out while abroad.

The actual plans, prices, and terms available can vary by country and region, so please check the latest details before sending a gift. For longer study trips or stays where a larger amount of data is helpful, an unlimited-type plan can be an option too. Note that even unlimited plans may apply a fair-use policy or a speed limit after a certain amount of use, and speeds depend on the local network, area, and congestion. Confirming the terms before purchase means the person you're gifting to won't be confused once they start using it.
