Featured Plans Now Show Language-Specific Thumbnails

Now it's even easier to recognize, in your own language, that "this plan is for me." Our Featured section can now display the most fitting thumbnail image for each language. Whether you're browsing in English, Japanese, or another supported language, the images switch to match, so everything feels natural for the way you read.

What's New in This Update

  • The Featured section now supports language-specific thumbnail images.
  • Images are selected automatically to match the language you're viewing the site in.
  • Because the wording and tone of each image can be tailored per language, our goal is a look that feels natural to readers in every language.

Previously, the same thumbnail appeared for every language. With this improvement, we can prepare images that suit each language, gradually making the display clearer and more natural.

Why We Made This Change

Bloomy eSIM is available in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. Our users travel, study abroad, take long trips, and head off in many different directions — using many different languages along the way. When the imagery stayed the same regardless of language, text inside an image could end up mismatched with the surrounding language, making things a little harder to follow for some readers.

The Featured section is often the first thing a new visitor sees. That's exactly why we wanted the imagery to align with each language, so you can tell at a glance that "this is guidance meant for me."

How This Helps You

For example, if you're browsing in English, you'll see imagery that fits an English-language context; if you're reading in Japanese, you'll see imagery suited to Japanese. When the language and the look of the images line up, it's easier to keep reading without second-guessing.

It's a small refinement, but it's especially helpful if you're using an eSIM abroad for the first time — it makes it easier to judge from the visuals alone whether the guidance is a good match for you.

The Bloomy Touch

What matters most to Bloomy is a sense of warmth, cleanliness, and reassurance. Rather than making the images flashy, we prioritized a calm, natural feel for readers in each language. We're mindful of keeping the overall tone consistent, so that nothing looks out of place from one language to the next.

Since this update is all about language, it's worth touching on a related point: the more uncertain you feel about the local language, the more peace of mind you get from sorting out your connectivity before you leave. It helps to think about choosing the eSIM itself and preparing your ways to stay in touch as two separate steps — that way there's less to worry about.

1. Choose Your eSIM by Destination, Data, and Duration

One thing first-timers often get stuck on is how to pick a plan. It's easier to organize your thinking by deciding these three things in order:

  • Destination (country or region): Start by narrowing down to plans that cover where you're going. If you're visiting several countries, choose a plan that includes them all.
  • Data allowance: If you'll mostly use maps, messaging, and quick searches, a smaller allowance may be enough; if you'll watch a lot of video or use tethering often, lean larger. If you expect heavy use, an unlimited plan can be worth considering.
  • Number of days: Match this to how long you'll be staying. A short trip and a long study-abroad stint call for different plans.

The table below offers a rough guide. Your ideal allowance really depends on how you use your phone, so please treat this as a starting point rather than a hard rule.

How you tend to use your phoneRough data guidePlan that may suit you
Mostly maps, chat, and quick searchesSmall to mediumStandard data plan (just what you need)
Frequent photo sharing and social mediaMedium to largeLarger data plan
Heavy video and tethering / long staysLarge, or consider unlimitedHigh-capacity or unlimited plan

2. Focus on Ways to Stay in Touch That Work Over Data

Bloomy eSIM is data-only — it does not include a phone number, SMS, or voice calling. If you need a phone number, SMS, or voice calls, it's reassuring to check on a separate option for those as well. That said, app-based messaging and calls such as WhatsApp can often be used wherever you have a working data connection. Even if you're nervous about the language, translation apps and messaging apps run on data, so installing the apps you'll want before you leave makes it less likely you'll feel rushed once you arrive.

Also, if you plan to use services abroad that require SMS verification, it's wise to arrange a separate number that can receive SMS, or to confirm your verification options before departure.

3. Set Up Before You Leave, Activate After You Arrive

With an eSIM, it's often most reassuring to complete the installation before you depart and switch the line on after you reach your destination. Activation timing can vary by plan, though, so please check the details before purchasing. The setup steps themselves aren't difficult — just follow the on-screen prompts.

What's Next

We plan to keep fine-tuning our language-specific display and the clarity of our guidance, little by little. We'll continue making improvements so the experience feels natural and easy to follow for readers in every language. We'll share specifics here or in our development updates as they're decided.
