A Smoother eSIM Setup | One Tap to Start Installation After Purchase

We've reworked our setup guidance so that, right after purchase, you can move straight to adding your eSIM by simply tapping a setup link. The goal is to make it easier to get started—even if it's your first time—without having to puzzle over scanning a QR code or typing in a long activation string by hand. This helps remove that first hurdle of "I'm not sure where to even begin."

What we changed

Until now, our guidance centered on the common flow of "scan the QR code that arrives by email." This time, we've reorganized everything around how Bloomy is actually used, putting tapping the setup link from My Page front and center. On supported devices, tapping the link takes you straight to the screen for adding your eSIM.

We also revisited the wording and the order of the steps. We've tried to avoid technical jargon and arranged the steps to follow the on-screen flow, so it's clear at a glance what you're doing at each moment. Scanning a QR code and entering details manually are still fully supported, so you can choose whatever fits your device and situation.

Why we made the change

The trickiest part of an eSIM is often just "how to begin setup." When the way you receive it or the steps involved aren't clear, it can leave you feeling uncertain after buying. First-time users in particular can find it confusing to display a QR code on a separate device and scan it. By aligning our guidance with how people actually use the product, we want you to be able to set things up right on the phone you bought it for, without second-guessing.

How you receive your eSIM, and when to set it up

A common question for first-time users is "when should I set it up?" Here are the basics.

  • Setup (installation) can often be done before you leave, using a stable connection such as your home Wi-Fi. Getting it done in advance, where the signal is steady, gives you peace of mind.
  • Starting your connection is easiest to do once you arrive, by turning on cellular data (mobile data).
  • When the validity period begins depends on the plan—some start from the moment you install, others from the first time you actually connect on location. This also affects whether it's fine to install well ahead of your trip, so please check the plan details before you buy.

Please note that Bloomy eSIMs are generally data-only. They do not include a phone number, SMS, or voice calls. If you need SMS verification for things like banking or social media, please plan to use them together with a separate line that has its own number. Calls through apps such as WhatsApp may work where a data connection is available.

Choosing your data amount and number of days

Picking the right plan before you set up means less scrambling once you arrive. Here are some points to consider.

  • Destination (country/region): Supported countries and regions vary by plan. If you have connections or a multi-country trip, it's reassuring to check that the places you'll pass through are covered, too.
  • Number of days: Leaving a little extra room beyond your planned stay makes it easier to absorb changes to your arrival or departure dates.
  • Data amount: A smaller allowance tends to suit maps and messaging, while a larger one fits heavier video streaming or tethering. For long stays or when your usage is hard to predict, an unlimited-style plan can also be an option.

The plans, prices, and terms actually available can differ by country and region, so please check the latest details on the comparison page before purchasing.

The Bloomy approach

Rather than claiming "setup complete," we've chosen the more honest phrasing of "one tap to start setup." Because some steps on your device may still remain after you tap, we avoid making it look effortless and instead use wording that matches the real flow. For devices or situations that aren't supported, we've kept guidance for proceeding via QR code or manual entry.

Looking ahead

We'll keep exploring ways to make it easier to confirm "am I actually connected?" after setup. If anything is unclear, we'll fold that feedback into future improvements.
