Setup Guide and FAQ Updated with Answers Based on How People Actually Use Their eSIM

Last updated: July 27, 2026

"If I delete the email, can I still set it up?" "When does the validity period actually start counting?" — the questions we hear most often are now answered right on the page, where you'll be looking for them. The goal is simple: fewer travelers heading to the airport still unsure about something they couldn't find an answer to.

What we added

The following points have been added to the Setup Guide and the FAQ. Every one of them comes from a question customers actually asked us.

  • Your setup details are always available in My Account — deleting the email doesn't lock you out of setting up your eSIM
  • We don't hand out a PDF of the steps — the instructions live in My Account and the Setup Guide
  • On most plans, the validity period starts when the eSIM activates — buying it doesn't start the clock
  • No dedicated app required — purchase, setup, and checking your remaining data all happen in your browser
  • Each plan covers a specific set of countries — if your trip crosses borders, choose a regional plan

We've also spelled out that if you install the eSIM on your device and then delete it yourself, the same details may not be enough to restore it. "I lost the email" and "I removed it from my phone" are two very different situations, and they need two very different answers.

Why we added it

None of this is new behavior — it has always worked this way. It just wasn't written down anywhere. And what isn't written down doesn't reach the reader. Since searching didn't turn up an answer either, people filled the gap with what they'd read about eSIMs in general, which may well have left some with the impression that losing the email means losing the eSIM.

The validity question matters most to anyone who likes to buy ahead of departure. If you assume the days start ticking the moment you pay, buying early looks like throwing money away. In practice, you can purchase before you leave, complete the setup at home on your own Wi-Fi, and still have the full period ahead of you.

Where to look when something's not right

More pages bring their own problem: knowing which one to open. Here's a quick guide.

As a rule of thumb: anything about your specific order lives in My Account, anything about how to do something lives in the Setup Guide, and anything that isn't working lives in Troubleshooting. You can go straight to My Account, the Setup Guide, or Troubleshooting.

The Bloomy details we cared about

We made sure the Setup Guide and the FAQ say the same thing in the same words. When two pages describe the same feature differently, the reader is left guessing which one to trust.

The other thing we watched closely: not stating things more firmly than we can back up. When the validity period starts, and how long an eSIM can sit unused before activation, can vary by plan — so we wrote "on most plans" and pointed you to My Account for the exact dates that apply to your purchase. We also don't promise recovery after you've deleted an eSIM from your device, because the outcome genuinely depends on the situation. A confident answer that turns out to be wrong is worse than an honest one.

What's next

We'll keep watching the questions that come in and filling the gaps they reveal. We're also working through our other language versions so they carry the same information.

Step-by-step instructions are in the Setup Guide, and questions from before and after purchase are collected in the FAQ. If you're new to eSIMs, the eSIM Guide covers the basics. Everything we've changed so far is listed in the Changelog.

Bloomy eSIMs are data-only: they don't include a phone number, SMS, or voice calls, so keep your home-country number active on your regular SIM if you need calls or texts. All plans are subject to a fair usage policy, and real-world speeds and coverage vary with the local partner network, your device, and where you are. Details in this article reflect July 2026.
