Weve Improved Auto Top-Up: More Accurate Data Balance and Safer Behavior

Published: June 7, 2026

We've improved the accuracy of the remaining data balance and the safety of how Auto Top-Up behaves. Auto Top-Up is an optional feature that automatically adds a data amount you've chosen in advance when your balance runs low. It's designed to ease the worry of suddenly losing connectivity while you're relying on data abroad. But precisely because it runs on its own, we believe two things matter most: that the balance you see reflects reality, and that top-ups don't pile up more than you intended. This update is a careful effort to strengthen both.

What's New in This Update

The changes fall into two areas: making the balance reflect reality more accurately, and adding safeguards that stop the feature cleanly.

A More Accurate Data Balance

  • After a top-up (adding data), we now recalculate your total allowance and usage on the spot from the latest information, so the balance shown in My Account better matches your actual usage.
  • The decision of whether to trigger Auto Top-Up is now based on this recalculated, accurate balance. This change prevents the system from acting on outdated balance figures.

Safeguards That Stop Cleanly

  • We've added a cooldown period between triggers so top-ups don't fire repeatedly in a short span of time.
  • We've set a cap on the number of triggers per day.
  • When an eSIM reaches its limit on added top-ups (up to 10), the feature stops automatically.
  • If a top-up fails, the feature stops automatically and notifies you of the situation. This helps avoid a state where a charge goes through but the data isn't added.

Why We Made These Changes

Auto Top-Up is convenient, but it's a feature where charging and adding data happen automatically. That's exactly why we felt two questions decide whether it feels safe to use: “Is the balance I'm seeing really correct?” and “Could it add data again and again at moments I didn't intend?”

The moment right after a top-up is when allowance and usage figures shift. If the display or the trigger logic is still working from old information at that point, data might be added when some still remained, or the display might appear out of step with reality. With this update, we recalculate the balance after a top-up is made and align both the display and the trigger logic to the same accurate figure, making such mismatches less likely.

What This Means for You

  • The balance shown in My Account stays closer to your actual usage, making it easier to judge how much you have left.
  • Unintended back-to-back top-ups are less likely, easing worries about overuse.
  • Because the feature stops automatically when limits are reached or a top-up fails, it's easier to leave it running with peace of mind.

For example, during travel or study abroad—when you're out and about and it's hard to check your balance often—Auto Top-Up adds your chosen amount only when your balance runs low, reducing the worry of losing your connection. At the same time, because the automatic behavior has caps and cooldown periods, you can keep top-ups from stacking up more than expected.

The Bloomy Approach Behind This

Auto Top-Up is the kind of feature that can feel “convenient, but a little nerve-wracking.” So we keep it off by default, and it only runs when you turn it on yourself. We wanted you to stay in control of when it starts and stops. For the display, rather than showing raw technical figures, we prioritize simply making it clear how much you have left. Peace of mind before convenience—we've worked to keep that order intact.

What's Next

We'll continue exploring features that support peace of mind, such as alerts for low balance and upcoming expiry. We also plan to refine how clearly information is displayed and the timing of notifications, adjusting step by step based on the feedback we receive. We'll share anything that isn't finalized yet once it's decided.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Auto Top-Up charge me on its own?
It's off by default. It only acts—when your balance falls below the threshold you set—if you've turned it on yourself. You can turn it off anytime from My Account.
Is there a limit on how many top-ups can be added?
Up to 10 top-ups per eSIM. Once that limit is reached, the feature stops automatically.
Could data be added many times in a short period?
There's a cooldown between triggers and a daily cap on the number of triggers, so the design makes repeated back-to-back top-ups unlikely.
What happens if a top-up fails?
The feature stops automatically and notifies you of the situation. This is designed to prevent a state where a charge goes through but no data is added.

Summary

In this update, we made Auto Top-Up's balance reflection more accurate and added safeguards: preventing back-to-back triggers, a daily cap, automatic stopping when the 10-top-up limit is reached, and stopping when a top-up fails. We'll keep improving with our customers' peace of mind first. Auto Top-Up is off by default, runs only when you turn it on yourself, and can be turned off anytime from My Account. Please note that Bloomy eSIM is data-only: it does not include a phone number, SMS, or voice calls. If you need those, please also look into a separate option. Actual connection quality can vary depending on the local network, your device, and the area. Fair-use policies apply, and prices should be confirmed at the time of purchase.
